It made a great impact because slaves were already weak, they weren't properly taking care of. They were constantly working and they owners would not care if they were sick so therefore with them being outside all the time working it was easier for slaves to get smallpox and die possibly.
The Smallpox killed slaves, colonists, and Native Americans and continued to build a home on slave ships and loads from Africa and the Caribbean to Boston.
How did smallpox affect slavery?
Smallpox devastated Native communities that, without protection, could not fight off the virus.
Smallpox re-entered the colonies through slave ships, which were transmitted to enslaved people, who, in crowded and dirty areas, transmitted the disease to one another and, eventually, to the colonies in their destination.
Thus, due to no proper care and no protection, smallpox had a devastating effect on the African slaves.
