D. protagonist
By definition, a protagonist is the leading character in a
fictional text such as a drama, a play, a novel or a story. In F. Scott
Fitzgerald’s story “Bernice Bobs Her Hair” set in the 1920s, Bernice is the
main character or the protagonist of the story. The story centers on Bernice
and the changes and experiences she had to go through to be accepted in high
society. At first she was reluctant to undergo a transformation but when she
conceded and became too popular, she became the target of ridicule.
