Mitosis is a type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth.
During this process, a single “parent” cell will divide and produce identical "daughter" cells. In this way, the parent cell is able to pass on its genetic material to each of its daughter cells.
