Find X. I did this but got 9 as my answer. I checked it but it didn't match.

2(x + 3) = 3(x + 5)

Perhaps your sign was not correct.

x = -9

2(x + 3) = 3(x + 5)

Distribute.

2x + 6 = 3x + 15

Isolate the terms.

2x - 3x = 15 - 6

-x = 9

Divide by -1, solve for x.

x = 9/-1

x = -9

Check.

2 ( -9 + 3) = 3 (-9 + 5)

2(-6) = 3(-4)

-12 = -12
