Convection currents are caused by an even temperature within something, they happen within the earth's magma, water and air. It can happen in anything that isn't solid but has parts that are cooler or warmer for instance than other parts. When something happens to be cool, it sinks and when it's hot, it'll rise.

The 3 big factors that cause global convection currents to be so complex on earth?

  • The rotation of the earth
  • The non distribution of land over northern and southern hemispheres,
  • As a result of the seasons that takes place on earth.

Convection often takes place via particles movement. through its heating, the molecules move faster and more apart, and also its density decreases. it is often known as how fluid flow via gases and liquids, convection in solids happens but at a slower rate.

Convection Currents in the Mantle

Heat in the mantle arises from the Earth's molten outer shell, death of radioactive elements and, in the upper mantle, friction from falling tectonic plates.

Conclusively, The heat in the outer shell gotten from residual energy from the Earth's formative events and the energy generated by dying radioactive elements.
