Divisions within Christian religion were initiated by Martin Luther during the 1500's.

Martin Luther was a German professor of theology, and a religious reformer who initiated the Protestant Reformation that occurs during the 1500's. Martin Luther stood against many practices and doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church. He also instigated a group that recreated some basic principles of Christian and led in the separation of western Christianity between the new protestant traditions (such as the Anglican communion, Anabaptists, Lutheranism), and Roman Catholicism.

History of Reformation can be traced back from the time of thunderstorm in 1505 and after surviving this event, It was a law student from the University of Erfurt in Germany who survived this event and that event changed the course of his life, the name of that young scholar was Martin Luther. He belonged to a well-known family of the central Saxony. He was born on November 1483 but soon after his birth, his family moved away to the town of Mansfield. It was on January 1521, when a papal decree was published and under that Luther was declared as the heretic and excommunicated.  

If we talk about the normal circumstances, this verdict would have meant a trial which may lead to execution but it happened during not so ordinary times as both Frederick and widespread public opinion of Germany demanded that Luther should be given a proper hearing and he was facing trial because he started to engage in regular public debates on religious reforms as he was of the argument that every single believer of the church has right to challenge the pope.
