What is the setting for Casablanca? How does the film establish this setting? If you were creating a theatrical production of the play upon which the film is based, how would you establish the setting on stage?

This movie is set in the World War II backdrop. It is mostly illustrated through the dialogue of the characters because the main scenes occur in a nightclub. Rick and Ilsa discuss how their love was doomed because of the war. 
If I were to adapt the movie into a play, I would emphasize 40s music and costumes to ensure the setting is right.
