Steven McCarty Palazzo is a Republican politician who has represented Mississippi's 4th congressional district since 2011. The district includes Biloxi, Gulfport, Pascagoula, Laurel, and Hattiesburg on Mississippi's Gulf Coast.
Leonard Bentz, the incumbent Republican State Representative from Mississippi's 116th House District, resigned in April 2006 after being appointed to the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Palazzo ran for the vacated seat and won 51%-26%-24% over Democratic candidate Maryann Graczyk, an education lobbyist, and Republican George Emile, a funeral home director. He was elected to a full term in 2007 while running unopposed.
Palazzo served on the Banking and Financial Services, Juvenile Justice, Labor, and Gulf Coast Select Committees.
