X+y=48
X-y=26

(Solve for X in x+y=48)
X=48-y
(Substitute that into x-y=26)
48-2y=26
(Solve for y)
-2y=-22
y=11

(Substitute y=11 into x=48-y)
X=48-11
X=37

Y=11 and x=35
