The "New Deal" proposed by Theodore Roosevelt was a set of laws that were made to basically bring Americans out of poverty. The plan was made in response to the Great Depression. People usually refer to this as the "3 R's" which stand for Relief, Recovery, and Reform: Relief for the unemployed and poor, Recovery of the economy to normal levels, and Reform of the financial system in hope of preventing another depression.
