The train will take 1h, then the bus will take and a half hours. i need to allow half an hour to change between them. how long will the whole journey take?

Total time for whole journey would be 3 hours.

The total trip is divided into three intervals :-

  1. Travelling by train
  2. Travelling by bus
  3. Time taken to change between them

Hence to find the total time of the trip we need time taken in each interval and just add them up.

The final expression would be :-

Total time taken = Time taken by bus + Time taken by train +

                                Time taken to change between them

Given:-

  • Time taken by bus = 1.5 hrs
  • Time taken by train = 1 hrs
  • Time taken to change between them = 0.5 hrs

Thus Total time for whole journey would be 3 hours.
