Rowell's Eleanor & Park is one of the most read young adult novels across the globe. The novel features two misfits who then fall from one another. The point of view used in the novel is the third-person point of view. Thus, it's so easy for the readers to follow the dialogue and as well as the narration. What makes the novel more interesting is that some chapters in the book would feature the point of view of Eleanor which somehow gives the readers to understand the plot as though the readers are in Eleanor's head and the same goes with Park. The subjectivity of the novel lets the readers interpret the plot based on the mood and emotions of the characters. The switching technique in point of view also helps in appreciating the plot of the book more. Moreover, the dialogues in the book are excellently executed. Below are the reasons:The dialogues distinguish which character is which. Since the novel features a "switching" technique in point of view, readers can easily identify who's talking and thinking. Although the novel uses the third person multiple, readers are not confused at all. The dialogues are not redundant. The vivid description and narration the novel presents do not go against the dialogues of the characters. The author made sure that the images are not only told but also being shown to the readers by letting the dialogues play on their own. The dialogues are appropriate to the tone and even the setting. The dialogues of the characters really reveal what they feel in each scenario in the book, which is really good because the characters can understand the characters more.
