Inverse variation

Let the demand be represented as "d
Let the price of the product be represented as 'p"

If the product varies inversely with the price of the product, this is expressed as:

d = k/p

k is the variation constant

If in 2002, the demand was 1600 units when the price was rs. 5 per unit, then;

1600 = k/5

k = 5(1600)

k = 8000

In order to get the demand (to the nearest unit)  in 2012 when the price is rs. 25 per unit;

d = k/p

d = 8000/25

d = 320
Hence the demand (to the nearest unit) in 2012 when the price is rs. 25 per unit is 320 units
