a pharmacist prepares medicine for patients given by doctors
5 tasks
pharmacists:
1. count pills
2.prepare liquid medicines/solutions
3.often run a pharmacy store like walgreens/cvs like do accounting from the cash register/accounting books
4.often help patients talking to insurance companies, doctors and drug companies should there ever be a problem with the medicine
5.have knowledge of medicine like which medicines cant hurt people with certain diseases
High school preparatory courses: biology, chemistry, anatomy, math, english
education beyond high school graduation: pharmacists have to go to colleges that offer a pharmacy bachelors degree like st johns and long island university
Employment attire: they wear a white lab coat. sometimes gloves
Employment hazard: mixing wrong chemicals by accident can cause damage to the health
Personal aptitudes: patience (especially when dealing with old and child patients), diligence ( they often open early and close late) , detail oriented (money counted has to match money in the accounting books and cash register), they have to be in good shape because they often have to stand , professionalism ( they are counted by doctors and patients to do the job right)
Workplace environment: they usually work in a pharmacy or a big store like cvs. theyre workplace is elevated, secure and often in the back of the store
Salary : many pharmacists make 80,000 a year
