In the passage above, the narrator speaking from the External narrator and Internal focalizer perspective, recounts how Tom wakes up into a very serene atmosphere.
The feeling of marvel stems from the fact that the nature around him seems to respond and interact with him.
It starts with the singing of birds, to the caterpillar that seems aware of his presence and crawls toward him. There is another magical moment where he sings to the Lady Bug to fly and it actually does. This leaves the boy enthralled.
