Information systems are used for data collection, storage, and processing. They serve as building blocks of some businesses such as online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay and use information gathered to discover customer satisfaction, interest and so on.

For every information there are six (6) crucial parts, they are:

Data/Database: For any analysis to be carried by any information system, raw facts or logs about the customers, product, procedure are very important. This is because they serve as the starting point of all information systems.
Hardware: includes all necessary equipment for data collection and storage such as input and output devices, hard drives and so on.
Software: applications built for specific purposes such as the online platform, payment system and so on. They are built using different programming languages.
Communication media/Network: This is the channel to which more than one system is connected for efficient data exchange.
Procedures: This involves ethical and secured steps or policies that guide the whole system function.
People: The individuals that will be communicating with the information system are very important such as system operators or users. The users of the system must find the system easy to use and properly organized.
