The slaves were thus migrated from various regions of the African continent that were used to working in a hot climate and were well adapted.

Cotton farming and plantation also required laborers in their fields. Slaves were imported from Africa. These slaves being black couldn't escape and mix into the general community.

Also, they couldn't speak proper English at first so they were massively dominated by the whites who would feed them and house them in slave houses.
