Here is both sides to the story

Morally right

The United States was helping both of these territories to get rid of tyrannical leaders. For example, the United States helped get rid of the repressive Spanish regime that had been controlling Cuba for over a century. Along with this, the US helped to get rid of a monarchy in Hawaii in which political power was determined by family affiliation not the will of the people. Setting up democracies in these territories would help citizens to have more freedom and political power, ultimately making them better places to live.

Morally wrong

The United States government should not force their views on other territories who may not necessarily want their help. It is not the United States job to determine what type of government or economic system these territories have. It is unfair of the US to help in the overthrow of any government like we did in Hawaii.
