50% is [tex] \frac{50}{100} [/tex]
We have two ways to do this, pick your favor:
either by fractions:
[tex] \frac{5}{8} [/tex] ÷ [tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
([tex] \frac{50}{100} = \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
Multiply by the reciprocal of [tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex] which is 2(flip it)
[tex] \frac{5}{8} [/tex] × 2 = [tex] \frac{5}{4} [/tex] = 1.25
Or change them to decimals:
[tex] \frac{5}{8} = 0.625[/tex]
[tex] \frac{50}{100} [/tex] = 0.5
0.625 ÷ 0.5
0.5 I 0.625
multiply by 10 to make it easier to divide(it still gives us the same answer)
0.5 × 10 = 5
0.625 × 10 = 6.25
1.25
5 I 6.25
