Chantel was eating raisins and a few of them fell into her glass of drinking water she finished eating the rest of the reasons when she went to dump out the water in her glasses she observed that the raisins had became swollen why would this have happened

What happened was that the raisins experienced a -

HYPOTONIC Solution reaction.

The water became diffused within the raisins and caused it to swell. Water wasn't being taken out of it and because of that, it didn't become shriveled, therefore..

it's NOT HYPERTONIC.
