B.respect

A simile is a comparison between to different things using like or as. In the poem, the simile is "he got away like medals with their ribbons frayed and wavering a five haired beard of wisdom". The speaker is using the simile to compare the hook and line left behind i the fish's jaw to medals that someone might win in a competition. The comparison shows the speaker's respect for the fish's victory over man and his rod.
