When iron is heated with sulphur it reacts with it to form a compound which is non magnetic in nature unlike iron which is magnetic in nature

The reaction is

Fe + S --- > FeS

thus due to formation of compound the individual properties of elements taking part in chemical reaction disappears unlike mixtures where properties of two components remains as such.
