An easy way to help remember place value is shifting the decimal point.
For example, [tex]100 / 10 = 10.0[/tex], so you've basically just shifted the decimal point to the left one space. The same method can be applied to the problems here.
9.) Since the underlined 3 in 6300 is one decimal space in front of the 3 in 530, then it is 10 times the value of the 3 in 530.
10.) Let's try the same thing here. The underlined 2 is one value ahead of the 2 in 7283, so it is ten times the 2 in 7283.
