Discuss the point of view and perspecrive douglass gives when writring about aunt hesters beating how does he convey his point of view to the reader ?

Respuesta :

Captain Anthony occasionally delighted in viciously beating his slaves. No amount of tears or supplication or streaming blood would cause him to cease his whipping.   Douglass recalls how his own aunt was often prey to these whippings. The first time he witnessed this outrage, it "struck me with awful force. It was the blood-stained gate, the entrance to the hell of slavery, through which I was about to pass. It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to paper the feelings with which I beheld it." I am not sure though about his point of view. Answer:

When writing about Aunt Hester's beating in his memoir titled The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick Douglass makes use of heavy dark imagery in order to showcase the horrors of slavery. He uses powerful imagery and words such as "heart rending shreks" as Aunt Hester is being whipped to emphasize just how much pain and agony the slaves were put through. He also uses this heavy imagery in order to give the readers an idea of what slaves went through, how awful they were treated by their owners and how little they were respected. In doing so, he was able to create a powerful message on how slavery should no longer persist.
