I believe the answer is: weak ego

Ego refers to the sense that peole have, which they believe would positively affected their self-esteem. People with weak ego tend to go out of their way to overlooked the negative behaviour they they do. They are afraid that admitting they do something wrong  would cause a damage to their self-worth.
