The blood-brain barrier acts as a gatekeeper to prevent certain substances from entering brain tissue.
The blood-brain barrier is a semipermeable membrane that moves apart the circulating blood from the brain. The blood–brain barrier is created by astrocyte, pericytes and the endothelial cells of the capillary wall. These membrane restricts certain substances such as cells, particles, and large molecules from entering the brain tissue
