This principle, established in the Articles of Confederation, revolves around citizens having the same rights regardless of the state they are in. This article was put in as a means to bring unity to the previously independent 13 colonies. This cohesion would allow citizens to receive fair treatment regardless of what state they were in at the time. This idea is used in the US Constitution we currently have today.
