Scythians, was the name given in antiquity to members of a group of peoples of Iranian origin, characterized by a culture based on nomadic herding and breeding of riding horses. During classical antiquity, the Scythians dominated the Pontic steppe, which was called Scythia. His language would be the ancestor of the modern Ossetian.
