Well there have been more terrorist acts such as the Boston Marathon bombing and more lives have been lost
Since the attacks on 9/11, and the spread of terrorism in general, any and all people are watched for terroristic activity. The CIA, NSA, FBI, and many other organizations are probably screening this answer right now. The TSA also requires a much more strict screening at airports and other location with many people that offer methods of travel. There are also background checks on firearm purchases, and laws that make the ownership of dangerous weapons, like rocket propelled grenades, grenade launchers and such, or weaponized vehicles, such as tanks or military Humvees, unlawful and illegal if the weapons on them are in working condition.
