Yet, "Joy in Work" is more than just the absence of burnout or an issue of individual wellness; it is a system property. This concept of joy is synonymous with meaning and purpose.
Burnout leads to lower levels of staff engagement, productivity, and patient experience, and an increased risk of workplace accidents. Lower levels of staff engagement are linked with lower-quality patient care, including safety. Burnout can affect providers’ empathy — a crucial component of effective and patient-centered care.
For this assignment, you have been asked by the Executive Board at a major healthcare system to develop a 4-week training plan for employees to decrease burnout and increase "Joy in Work". How would you turn burnout into engagement? Start with asking yourself the following: As the manager, "What aspects of my job bring me meaning or purpose?" "What brings me joy and/or job satisfaction?" Many of the things that are important to you are also important to your colleagues and those who work for you. You will find adequate research articles on this subject.

2. The Body should be a minimum 800-word discussion to provide a thorough description of each of the following parts (a, b, c and d). Be creative in your "weekly training sessions" so you would be able to obtain valuable feedback from your audience.
a. Title of the program: Think of a title that would elicit interest to your intended audience (healthcare employees). The title should give some information as to what you hope others will learn or gain from attending the training. Be creative and innovative.
b. Purpose: This is where you will define how you, as a leader, plan to counteract the potential epidemic of burnout in the healthcare profession and promote "Joy in Work". In other words, describe what is the overall goal of the training session(s).
c. Weekly Course Objectives & Content: Provide a detailed description of what topic(s) will be covered each week (4 weeks total). What presentation method will you utilize? (lecture, handouts, PowerPoints, discussion groups, etc.). Describe how you will discuss the topics and what information you will present. Remember, each week should build on the previous and have continuity.
d. Identify at least two benchmarks or areas that this organization is hoping to see improvement in by implementing this training. How will boosting morale ("joy at work") affect the day to day operations in a measurable way?
